【Abstract】 Landplan Ⅲ-A Southeast Asian Symposium on the Role of Geology in Urban Development sponsored by the Geological Society of Hong Kong was held in Hong Kong from December 15 to 20,1986. The Symposium was jointly subsidized by UNESCO, the Association of Geoscientists for International Development, the International Union of Geological Science, and also supported by the related institutions in Hong Kong. Over 100 representatives from 17 countries and areas, with 17 representatives from the mainland of China, attended the meeting. Altogether more than 70 papers were received and about 50 scholars gave academic presentations at the meeting. The role of geology in the planning of urban construction was widely exchanged and discussed. The paper outlines this meeting, including a brief account of the meeting; the main subjects for discussion in the Landplan Ⅲ; Southeast Asia as one of the seismically most active areas in the world; the important role to be played by seismological work in the process of urban development, as well as measures for strengthening international cooperative research in this field, and so on.更多还原
