【Abstract】 Through statistic analysis of a great deal of levelling data, the systematic error in the fifference of forward and backward levellings is estimated in this paper. It is pointed out the abovementioned systematic error may amount to 0.2mm/km when surveing carried out with the automatic levelling instrument. And the signs of the error may be of some random property. It may varies irregulaily from one section of levelling to another.The statistic results provide a basis for evaluating the levelling accuracy.
