【Abstract】 From the Viewpoints of engineering Practicality and rationality, a method of evaluating the rick of the lightning surge intruding into the UHV Substations is introduced in This paper.The method is mainly based on the statistical distribution of lightning current, and other factors such as ground resistance and surge impedance of towers, etc. are also taken into account. Thus, the realistic effect of the intruding lightning surge Protection measures adopted in the UHV substation, as well as a more rational co-ordination of lighting surge insulation of the powar devices in the substatcons, are presented.
