【Abstract】 Chinese jujube is indigenous to China and has been cultivated in this country for more than 3,000 years. It is one of the important fruitin China.However, its basic chromosome number and ploidy are still a puzzling problem.In this experiment, the chromosome number of 111 genotypes was counted during meiotic stages like diakinesis first or second metaphase. For some genotypes, root tip smears were also carried out to ascertain the result.The genotypes included Z.jujuba Mill.,Z.spinosus Hu.,Z.juju-ba Mill.var.tortuoso Hort., and Z. jujuba Mill, var.lageniformis Hort., among which only one cultivar " Zanhuangdazao" was triploid and all the othersa were diploid.It is the first time that a triploid was found in Zizyphus. In addi-tion,this triploid possesses the characteristics of large size, good quali-ty and high yield. Therefore the authors suggest that this cultivar be studied more fully.Through this experiment, the authors hope that the results maylay a foundation for further studies and may shed some light on the taxonomy of the Chinese jujube.更多还原
