【Abstract】 The article deals with how some English verbs in active forms are used in the passive sense. This phenomenon occurs in predicative verbs as shown in Sections 1—7. In the next seven sections (5—11) its occurrence in infinitives is discussed. Its application to gerunds after certain verbs and a special adjective is the topic of the last section. Also the paper points out that whereas for some verbs the active form is the only possibility, for some other verbs both the active and the passive are possible. Those two forms, however, are not always semantically identical, and the differences are shown through comparison betwe en the two.更多还原
