【Abstract】 One 14-year-old boy suffered fromepidemic paro?tis complicated with Guillain-Barre syndrome and died of breathing fail-ure.The autopsy revealed edema,conges-tion and variou degrees of demyelinationof the spinal nerves.The breaking downof the neuron axis,degeneration,necrosisor infiltration of a large number of lym-hocytes or monocytes in the spinal nerveswere found. Except the olfactory nerves,all the cranial nerves showed the same le-sions as those shown in the spinal nervesdescribed above.There were edema,con-gestion,degeneration or necrosis of theeurons both in the spinal cord or brain.Bilateral parotids were swollen with thecongestion of the interstitial tissue and in-filtration of a small number of lympho-cytes.The virus inclusion bodies were notseen.The pathological changes supportedthat the pathogenesis was due to post-infectious immunological disorders.更多还原
