【Abstract】 The nasopharyngeal intermediate epithelium of 16 rats was studied by means of electron microscopy. The intermediate epithelial cells were characterized by their abundant cytoplasmic tonofilaments and well developed tubulo-vesicular system. The intermediate epithelium located in nasopharynx is different from the real metaplastic one. It is a type of mature epithelium with properties between stratified squamous epithelium and pssudostratified columnar ciliated epithelium ultrastructurally. It exists in the whole life time.更多还原
