【Abstract】 The kinetics of the protolysis of ortho-alkoxyphenylmercuric chlorides,o— XC₆H₄HgCl（X=OCH₃,OC₂H₅）by the action of HCl in the presences of Nal was studied in dioxane with various mount of H₂O.The dependence of the reaction mechanism and rate on the solvent effect was illustrated.With the increase in water content of the solvent,mechanism of the protolysis changes from SE₂ to SE 1 and the rate decreases.The substituent effect on the rate of SE2 as well as SE1（SEi） reaction was discussed更多还原
