【Abstract】 We have developed and used the "LGC2-1A" underwater fluorometer to investigate marine admixture and diffusion. The construction and working principle of the fluorometer are introduced in this paper. In order to test towed speed, resistant ability to the external world disturbing light and diffusion characteristic of sea water, the experiments have been made first by the instrument in the coastal off Qingdao.The results show that the instrument can work at any sunlight intensity at depth 0 to 50 meters, at speed 0 to 6 knots, his detectability for water solution of Rhodamine B is 1×10-10g/ml to 1×10-6g/ml. It is an ideal instrument to study statistical characteristic of radom diffusion processes.
