【Abstract】 This paper describer the preparation and separation of 1,4-anhyaro-D , L-xy1itol. By dehydrating xylitol with concentrated hydrochloric acid or p-methy 1-benzenesulfonic acid in a nitrogen stream yield solely 1,4-anhydroxyl itols in yields of 69%.
