【Abstract】 This paper describes a digestion method for umbilical cord and blood and the determination of 15 trace elements in them. Some parameters for ICP, such as power, carrier gas flow and observation hight etc. were optimized to lower detection limits. The experimental results showed that the recovery of various elements was as follows: umbilical cord from 81.7 to 107.0%, umbilical blood from 82.0 to 102.0%. Detection limits was between 0.003 and 1.0μg/mL. Precision for the method was in the range of 5.1 to 15.4% for umbilical cord, and 4.0 to 9.7% for umbilical blood.
