太平洋西部深海沉积物中Fe、Mn、Mg地球化学
GEOCHEMISTRY OF Fe,Mn AND Mg IN PELAGIC SEDIMENTS FROM THE WEST PACIFIC REGION
【Abstract】 The distribution, origin and geochemical characteristics of Fe,Mn and Mg in seven sediment cores from the west Pacific region (2-8 N,170-173 20 E) are discussed in the present paper. The results show that the contents of Fe,Mn and Mg in die sediments increase in the order of calcareous ooze→calcsiliceous ooze→brown clay→siliceous ooze Fe and Mn are derived mainly from pyroclastic minerals, and Mg from sea water, which is adsorbed on clay. Also these three elements are partly derived from biogenetic sediments since Fe and Mn are of similar origin, there is a positive correlation between them.As the contents of Fe,Mn and Mg are closely related to the types of pyroclastic minerals and sediments, they fall within two separate areas on CaCO3-SiO2 diagram. This is a typical mark for the sedimentary environment of the studied area. The close relationship between the Mn/Fe ratio in the sediments and their type indicates that the degree of concentraction of Mn relative to Fe increases progressively from calcareous ooze to calcsiliceous ooze and then decreases from calc-siliceous ooze to siliceous ooze.
