【Abstract】 Temperaté mixture of forests of coniférs with deciduous in mountain regions of the northeastern part of China is dominated by Korean pine deciduous forests. Dominate species is Korean pine (Pinus Koraiensis), and mixes with various species of deciduous which forms a primary zonal climax community. In recent twenty years, the area of virgin Korean forests reduces day by day due to the felling on a large scale. It is known that the natural and artificial regeneration of Korean pine is very slow. If this situation goes on, Korean pine forests will be in danger of disappearance. In order to develop Korean pine forests, there are many urgent problems needed to be solved. Insect injury is a major one. Thus we have begun a series of investigations on injurious insects on Korean pine since 1974. At first, we investigated the relationship of injurious insects to divergence of Korean pine. Then we studied adelgids occuring on Korean pine in the harvested area. At the same time, we conducted a complete investigation into Korean pine forests in Wuying and Dailing, which included researches on injurious insects in the forests, and published a memoir of Korean pine forests in the northeastern part of China. Recently, we have completed a description of two new species of Korean pine adelgids and their biology(in press). This paper is the result of the field work conducted from 1974 to 1985, which gives a list of insects injurious to Korean pine and their ecological groups. The control tactics are also discussed in the paper.1. We should exploit and utilize virgin forests of Korean pine reasonably. Illegal cutting and destructive picking are strictly banned. 2. Felling amount must be strictly controlled when we conduct selection felling in order to maintain its adequate degree of closeness which makes the forests have the ability against wind. This is especially true in windy areas.3. Rotation system must be followed during clear-cutting. The area of clear-cutting can not be over large. The harvested area should be cleaned and logs transported out timely. The piling of logs in the forests is banned. The felling and transportation should be harmonious in the aim to exclude the piling of logs in forests.4. We should pay more attention to natural and artificial regeneration of Korean pine. During the felling and transportation period, treatments of loosing soil to aid natural regeneration should be taken. If it is necessary, man-made regeneration is suggested here by planting conifers with preservation of deciduous, which makes the forests have certain shadow resistance to the occurrence of light-loving insects such as adelgids and pine yellow-spotted black weevil.5. We think that planting a large area of pure forests suitable in view of insect injurious problems present in artificial larch forests. It is suggested that we should plant small areas of pure forests with each year’s cutting to form uneven-aged forests or mix with deciduous species. In this way, we can get the diversification of community structure in the forests. On the other hand, we could can light condition in the forest to reach the goal of preventing injury from insects.
