【Abstract】 Professor He Zhuolin (Ho Tsolin) was a well-known mineralogist and petrologist in China. He made significant contributions to mineralogy and optical mineralogy, petrofabric and X-ray petrofabric, crystallography, petrology and mineralogy of rare elements as well as technological petrology. His exellent achievements in scientific research, for which he spent his whole life, advanced development of geological sciences. Also, he paid such a great attention to training personnel in mineralogy and petrology that there are many students of his throughout our country. He combined theory with practiced studied carefully, learnt with insatiable desire and taught tirelessly9 devoted himself to the scientific cause.
