【Abstract】 75 eyes of HSV interstitial keratitis were treated by a combined therapy of corticosteroid and acyclovir. The other 58 eyes received acyclovir alone as control. The comparison of the therapeutic efficacy showed a marked difference between the two groups. In the combined therapy group significant shortening of the course of the disease was found. Both were markedly statistical significance(p<0.001). Of the 133 eyes, 104 eyes were followed up over 10 months. The recurrence rate was 22.4% for the combined therapy group and 19.6% for the control group. There were no significant differences(p>0.05). The adverse effects induced by the steroid hormone were observed. The authors especially emphysize that the topical application of steroid for herpetic eyes is aimed at utilizing the antiinflammatory, a(?)tiscarring and antineovascular effects for the eye’s optical purposes. Therefore, the use of steroid for HSV interstitial keratitis must be covered by specific antiviral agents and aimed at control of initial immune reaction with lowest dosage in short term. Our experience shows that the steroid may reduce corneal edema and inflammation and improve vision.更多还原
