【Abstract】 The physiological role of lectins in plant is not clear.Some investigator suggested that they may posses antifungal properties.In view of the experiments described in this paper,we found that after the wheat seed germinated for 40 hours,the activity of WGA in the embryo disappeared,It is tempting to suggest that the primary role of this lertin in nature is not to inhibit the fungel growth.
