【Abstract】 Sponsored by the Bureau of Design, MURCEP and ASC, a symposium was held Feb. 3-7, 1985 in Beijing, in which the problem of flourishing architectural creation was discussed. More than 30 persons attended the meeting, with Dai Nianci, Vice-Minister of MURCEP and President of ASC, at the chair. Chairman Dai points out that the cause of the stereotypes in architectural design involves many respects, including method of creation, system of organization, design fee, etc., among which architect’s conception is the key problem, He proposes five points to be emphasized: emancipation of the mind to breakthrough from the conventions; realization of the policy of "letting hundred schools of thought contend;" enhancement of architectural theory, including introduction of foreign trends; reformation in structure of design institutes; support towards the flourishing of architectural design from all parties concerned, including organizations of construction, planning, administration and public opinion.Zhang Mi, Assc. Prof, of Architecture, Tianjin Univ. emphasizes that: the value of architecture should be reacknowledged to break away from the utilitarian view; individualization should be persisted as the fundamental principle in design so as to attain diversification; innovation should be acknowledged as the fundamental law of development, and stereotyped and rigid modes be cleared away; new artistic conceptions and individual theories should be established basing on the sense of relativity.Hou Youbin, Assc. Prof, of College of Arch. Engineering, Harbin, holds that: establishment of systematic conception of architecture is important to change views towards architecture. (See article below.)Ma Guoxin, architect of Beijing Inst. of Arch. Design, points out that it will not suffice to only call for flourish in architectural design, but should orient to modernization, to the world, and to the future.Architect Zhang Yaozheng of Design Inst. of Industrial Bldgs., Shanghai proposes that the great contribtions of architecture to the society and human culture should be propagated based on the present situation of architects. The potentiality of architects, as well as the arduousness and value of their work, is far from being fully comprehended. Only with the acknowledgement and support from the society, can flourish in architectural design be realized.Cheng Zihua, Assc. Prof, of Dept. of Arch., Qinghua Univ., proposes that system analysis, cybernatics, and information theory should be applied to architecture.更多还原
