【Abstract】 The Nanhai (South China Sea) movement is a tectonic movement in the Cenozoic. Four episodes reflecting two transgressive and regressive cycles lay a geological foundation for the growth of Tertiary reefs in the northern South China Sea. Specially, the third episode plays an important role for the breeding and subsistence and development of reef-building organisms(coral, algae), directly influencing formation and lithif ication and distribu-tion of reef buildups.It is a major time for forming reefs in the northern shelf of the South China Sea.Reef buildups, a good reservoir rock, is an important prospective oil and gas target stratum in the northern South China Sea, particularly in the Yinggehai Basin.更多还原
