【Abstract】 The major cytopathic effect in yellow shoot diseased tissue was the presence of many cytoplasmic vesicles formed by enlarged invagination of the plasma membrane known as plas-malemmasome. These plasmalemasomes varied significantly in morphology and they were ob-served in all cell types. The seond major cytopathic change noted was the aberration of the thylakoid membrane systems of chloroplasts, the grana lamella were not well developed.
