【Abstract】 A new reducing agent Mg-Pt has been prepared for the conversion of small quantities of water to hydrogen in a flame-sealed borosilicate glass tube at 400℃ for iso-topic analysis. The working curves of gas chromatograph are given from 1.05 ppmD to 99.755 atom %D. The δ (‰) values of the tap water of Peking University and three other reference samples referred to a provisional working standard were measured by a MAT-250 mass spectrometry. The δ value of the tap water of Peking University was found to be -4.98±0.86(n =4), corresponding to its deuterium content of 145.81±0.37 ppm.
