【Abstract】 Decoction of the wick of sun-flower stem (Helanthus annuus L) at a concentration of 0.06 g/ml water was found to exert inhibitory action on the growth of mouse sarcoma 180 and uterus cancer 14. Both light and electron microscopy showed the tumor cells degenerated following 4-5 weeks’ treatment. Lymphocytes, plasma cells and phagocytes in large numbers were seen around the damaged tumor tissues. The decoction also showed some killing effects on the tumor cells in vitro.
