【Abstract】 Rizhao County of Shandong Province,along the Yellow Seais unigue in thatendemic goiter due to iodine excess owing to take iodine rich kelp salt and it’spicked vegetables.The goiter rate in the two villages of Shijiu Commune beingsituated right on the sea coast,was 31.3 and 41.7% respectively with respe-ctive average urine iodine excretion 1423.0 and 2097.μg/g creatinine.Theirrespective average iodine contents in drinking water were 35.5 and 26.0μg/L.They are common in all consuming large quantities of kelp salt and it’s pickledvegetables.So,we are considered as the iodide goiter.The other two villag-es in Taole Commune were in the same condition as well as Shijiu Communeexcept their inhabitant took iodine deficient common table salt only and show- ed that the goiter rate Was 6.7 and 8.0% respectively.So,we are consiedredas the borderline cases of the iodide goiter.The goiter rate in Mazhao Comm-une,situated 15 Kilometers away from the sea,was 29.4% with an averageurine iodine excretion of 46.5μg/g creatinine and the iodine content of theirdrinking water averaged only 1.5μg/L.Further interiorly,the goiter rate ofHuangdun Commune,a mountainous region,about 30 Kilometers from thesea,was 23.5% with an average urine iodine excretion of 23.96μg/g creatinineand the average iodine content of their drinking water being only 0.65μg/L.The inhabitants in hilly and mountainous region were all peasants using com-mon iodine deficent table salt,kelp salt being unavailable to them.So,weare considered as the common iodine deficiency endemic goiter.更多还原
