硝酸盐致甲状腺肿作用的探讨
A Study on the Effect of Nitrate Inducing Goiter

【Abstract】 In attempt to make sure whether the high level of nitrate in groundwaterhas relations with endemic goiter,we surveyed the groundwater in the subu-rbs of Jilin city,in which the mean level of nitrate was 4.97mg/l,and thatof iodine in water was 2.39μg/l.The areas are short of iodine.It wasfound that the radioiodine uptake of the human thyroid in the areaswas high (33.12%),and the urinary iodine was 50.70μg/l.The significanteffect of preventive treatment with adding iodine was gained.The morbidityrate of endemic goiter decreased from 9.67% (in 1978)to 5.10%.The highlevels of nitrate and iodine in groundwater were 25.16mg/1 and 6.24%μg/lrespectively,both which are in normal limits.In the areas the goiter wastreated in the same way.The mortality rate of goiter didn’t decreased,butalso increased from 6.24% (in 1978) to 8.07%.The radioiodine uptake of thethyroid among normal people in the areas was much lower than that of thenormal people in the areas of low level of nitrate.The ratio between bothareas was P<0.001.The mean content of urinary iodine was 74.45μg/l.Thecontent in this area was a bit higher than that in the area of the low levelof nitrate,p>0.05.The results indicate that nitrate inhibits the intake ofinorganic iodine by goiter.In addition to the fact that sodium nitrate inhibitsiodine absorptivity of rabbit’s goiter,we think that the etiology of endemicgoiter in the areas of the high nitrate groundwater is related to the groundw-ater containing high level of nitrate.It is nitrate that induces goiter.
