【Abstract】 The action of indirubin on the white blood cell surface was studied by cell electrophoresis method on 14 patients with chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML). The charge density of CML cell surface was shown to be decreased by indirubin. The combination of this drug with CML cell surface was found to be related to neuraminic acid but unrelated to other phosphate groups which carry negative charges. It appears that the indirubin molecules combine with certain receptors on the surface of the cell membrane. We presume that the change of the strutcture of membrane surface might influence the permeability of the membrane and change the cell metabolism and the information system of the membrane, This might be one of the mechanisms of the therapeutic action of indirubin in CML.更多还原
