【Abstract】 Nanpeng that is interciting of an isolated group of islands known as the Nanpeng Islands, is located at Latitude 23°15’N and Longitude 117°20’E approximately 60 km offshore from the northeastern part of Guangdong Province.During the period between the spring of 1980 and winter of 1981, we conducted a year-round study on the littoral benthic algae around this islet and collected additional flora in the summer of 1982. This report contains a floristic listing, along with the results of observations on seasonal changes, vertical distribution, reproductive structures that were present, a phenolog-ical study on biomass of the dominant species and an evaluation of the economic potential of the plants.The preliminary study has recorded 54 species of benthic algae, belonging to 7 chlorophyta, 14 phaeophyta, 32 rhodophyta and 1 cyanophyta. All these species appear to be subtropical, and it is shown in the table that many species are edible, a number of species can be used for phycololloid extraction and an additional dozen of species are used as traditional herDal medicine.Nanpeng, because it is located offshore, is less polluted, yet it is quite isolated, in consequence of the strong wind and wave action. Thus, along its northeastern coast, flora is scarce, while along its eastern and southern coasts, there is an abundance of flora.更多还原
