【Abstract】 Conditions to form the Holocene beachrock along the coast of Eastern Guangdong are discussed, These beachrock may be divided into tow types, one is the shelly ridge type which mainly formed in late middle-Holocene, the other is the sandy beach type which mainly formed in early late-Holocene. It is quite evident that they have different characteristics both in geomorphology and sedimentology. The study shows that formation of beachrock requires a warm-dry climate, relative stable sea-level, rather open coast, a rich source in calcium, and moderate submarine shore slope. These conditions were all existed along the coast of Eastern Guangdong in the period from late middle-Holocene to early late-Holocene, at that time the beachrock developed well, The beachrocks are mainly distributed at the top of bays or along the foot of hills by sea, where belong to a slight tectonic uplift area, therefore, beachrocks be scattered several meters high above present sea-level might not be the evidence of Holocene highest sealevel.更多还原
