【Abstract】 This paper deals with the synthesis of insect sex pheromones cis, cis, cis-3, 6, 9-eicosatriene (1) and cis, cis, cis-3, 6, 9-heneicosatriene (2). 2-Propyn-1-ol, 1-dodecyne and 1-tridecyne were used as starting materials. Selective partial hydro-genation of the two key intermediates 3, 6, 9-eicosatriyne (7) and 3, 6, 9-heneicosa-triyne (8) afforded the desired trienes 1 and 2 respectively.
