【Abstract】 There are vast areas of Bamboo forest in Chishui County, Cuizhou province. The high prevlence of Bamboo Stump breeding mosquitoes is a striking characteristic of ecological feature. A mosquito survey had been made in these areas during June to September, 1983. Totally 17 species belonging to 7 genera were collected and among which Aedes (F.) fengi Edwards was the dominant species,the larvae of which were demonstrated in 237 of 462 bamboo stumps examined at Jinsha(with a frequency of 51%), and in 185 of 292 bamboo stumps examined at Fuxing (with a frequency of 63.36% ) .Aedes(F.)novoniveus Barraud came next,with a frequency of 30.3% and 37.36% in Jinsha and Fuxing respectively. However, Aedes(S.)albopictus(Skuse)was the most dominant in the densely inhabited area at an elevation of 260-300 metres, the larvae of which were demonstrated in 62 of 71 bamboo stumps exmined. But in a sparsely populated area at an elevation of 400-850 metres, the larvae were demonstrated only in 59 of 453 bamboo stumps examined, and in an uninhabitd area with an elevation of over 900 metres they could not be found in 230 bamboo stumps examined. These striking differences between their distribution in different areas show clearly that their breeding hig- hly related to the human population condition. It has been considered that the distribution of Ae. (S.)albopictus depends only on the height above sea level. However, they have been found in the Guiyang montain forest, inhabited,convenient breeding place and temperature changes,where the elevation is over 1,200 metres. Yet the close relationship between their breeding and the height above sea level needs further study.更多还原
