利用风能太阳能开发河西地下水
On the Exploitation of Underground Water in Hexi Regions by Means of Wind and Solar Energies

【Abstract】 Hexi is located in the west part of the Huanghe River inGansu Province where the landform appears to be very flat andsoils are fertile.Thus far, agricultural production entirely depends onirrigation, and hence "irrigated agriculture" is called because theregion is located in the inland so that the weather is dry andthere is less rainfall.Water resrouces for irrigation entirely comefrom the rivers fed by glacier and snow from the Qilian mountains.These rivers flow through most of sand and gravel river beds withgreat infiltration so that the ground water is deficient and yet theunderground water is sufficient. Thus, exploiting and utilizing the undergroundwater in Hexi is an important measure in developing agriculture.Pumping waterfrom one level to another by the conventional energy resources will be greatlylimited in some areas. However, wind and solar energy resources are veryplentiful in Hexi areas.Accordingly, efforts should be made to utilize and expandthese advantages on the basis of which irrigation by pumping water witheither wind energy or wind generating electricity can be carriedout. This is a good measure which can not only save energyresources but also make full use of the underground watel.Researcheshave been carried out on the photoelectric pumps bY solar energyfor pumping water for many years abroad.The principal problemis how to reduce the cost of manufacturing the pumps.We shouldcarry out such kind of research in this field to make full use ofsolar energy resources so as to make them serve the development ofagriculture.
