【Abstract】 In this paper,the embryo manipulation work,both abroad and at home,isreviewed with the purpose of making vast numbers of animal breeders andembryologists in our country work hard to catch up with the world advancedlevel in this field at the time when this new technology has just begun to rise.Embryo manipulation includes the following techniques:1.monozygotic twins;2.parthenogenesis and unusual crosses;3.chimeras;4.cloning;5.In vitrofertilization;6.Sexing;7.gamate and embryo freezing;and 8.transfer ofgenes.Embryo manipulation can provide animal breeders with a new and valua-ble biological tool and it represents the new trend of animal breeding in theworld today.Although all these techniques have already been tested on labora-tory animals and a few kinds of domestic animals,their routine applications arestill some way off.However,once they are used routinely,the economic andscientific value should be considerable,because they can be used for many pur-poses in animal breeding,and can increase the reproductive rates of good breedsto a great extent.The possibilities and difficulties in the realization of thesetechniques are discussed,along with their usages in animal breeding.更多还原
