【Abstract】 A Characterization of Swelling rocks is proposed; the swelling mechanism is attributed to physico-chemical effects and rheological effects due to creep. elastic recovery and dilatancy;usually a combination of both effects is the case. The importance of mineralogical and physico-chemical tests is stressed. Some rheological testing methods are suggested. An analysis is given of the routine swelling test. Two-dimentional dilatancy constitutive equations for dilatancy are presented and the dilatant zone around a tunnel is computed.更多还原
