【Abstract】 The measurements and weights were made of 124 house swifts in Mengtsz, Yunnan province during 1963-64. The results obtained are as follows: Measurements average body length 135.8 (132-143)mm; wing 134.3(127-134)mm; open wing 320.4 (290-337)mm; tail 50.0 (47-54)mm; culmen 5.9 (5.0-6.5)mm; commissure line 17.4 (16-18.5)mm; tarso-metatarsus 10.5 (9-12)mm; mid-toe 6.6 (5.5-8.0)mm; claw 6.0 (5.0-7.0)mm; esophagus 45.8 (40-55)mm; intestine 127.6 (112-145)mm; digestive duct (from pharynx to cloaca). In 124 house swifts the average numerical length of body, wing and intestine are about the same. Tail and esophagus subeqal in length. All about average weights between male and female have no difference.Weights average body weight 28.7 (22.1-35.7)mg; pectoral muscles 5.04 (4.10-6.90)mg, being about 17.58% of the body weight; liver 1.30(0.70-1.80)mg, being about 4.55% of the weightj total brain 0.61 (0.50-0.70)mg, being about 2.07% of the body weight; cerebrum 0.31 (0.25-0.40)mg, being about 1.08% of body weightj cerebellum 0.11 (0.10-0.20)mg, being about 0.39% of the body weight; two eyes 1.27 (1.10-1.45)mg, being about 4.45% of the body weight; two kidneys 0.42 (0.30-0.50)mg, being about 1.47% of the body weight) heart 0.43 (0.30-0.51)mg, being about 1.48% of the body weight, weights liver and two eyes subeqal; weight two kidneys and heart subequal, all above average weights between male and female have no differenceThe house swifts are heavier on February, March (January absent), November and Decenber in the body weight, but lighter on July and October. The liver weights change throgh a year and its weight precentage in total body weight are the same as above. The pectoral muscle weight is, too, heavier on February, March, November and October in a year. Percentage weight of pectoral mucles are larger in the body weight on February, Jule, but smaller on March, October and November.更多还原
