寒潮对南海暖流的影响

【摘要】 <正>我国海洋普查首先观测到广东近海冬季存在一支逆风海流,后定名为“南海暖流”。其后,管秉贤(1978)根据地转流的计算结果,阐述了这支海流的若干特性,认为这支逆风海流与太平洋副热带逆流有某些相似之处。本文作者之一,根据北纬18°断面的历史资料,指出南海北部陆架外冬季有一辐聚区存在。但是冬季这支逆风海流究竟与寒潮大风有何联系,还没有进行深入研究。

【Abstract】 The Warm Current in the South China Sea is a current flowing against the wind in winter in the open sea off Guangdong Province, China. It has not been fully understood yet.In order to study the effects of the cold wave on the current a dynamical experiment on the Warm Current in the South China Sea has been made during the period from Feb.29 to Mar.7,1982. In the dynamical experiment, a main section across the continental slope off Shantou has been observed twice. A buoy for recording the current was deployed at Station 9 in the main section where the water depth is 1,000m.7day current records were obtained.In this paper, on the basis of the T-S data obtained in the 2 observations mentioned above and the 10m layer current records measured by means of the buoy for recording the current during the dynamical experiment, responses of the thermohaline structure and of the 10m layer current in the main section area to the cold wave have been studied.Under the act of the cold wave the general rhermohaline structures in the main section were similar to those before the intrusion of the cold wave, however, some changes occurred. On the south side of the main section, the upwelling of the subsurface water became stronger than it had been before the act of the cold wave.Thus, the isothermal surfaces and the isopycnic surfaces elevated near the continental slope and the upper water subsided and penetrated to a depth of more than, and then, the isopycnic surfaces sank; and over the shelf, a high salinity belt which had existed before the intrusion of the cold wave extended toward the coasts.In addition,the upper layer current,e.g.the 10m-layer current,was associated with the cold wave, the stronger the wind force, the higher the current velocity and the larger the deflection angle to the left.On the other hand,the current velocity and direction were associated not only with the wind force, but also with its intensity. When the wind force increased the current deflected counterclockwise and the current velocity increased at the same time.When the wind force weakened,the current deflected clockwise and the current velocity decreased as well.
