【Abstract】 Some measures adopted and preliminary Vicws aduanced in the applicationof principles and methods of quantitative genetics to selection of the initial st-age in developing Hubei White Swine Line Ⅲ, IV are described. They include:(1) selecting for traits With high and medium heritability estimates, (2)increasing the heritability by reducing the environmental variation under caref-ully controlled environmental conditions and in case of need by calculatingthe trait ratio, (3) reducing the Proportion selected and so increasing the in-tensity of selection, (4) reducing the generation interval, (5) using a select-ion index, (6) considering genotype-environment inteaction, (7) paying mo-derate attention to seletion for some qualitative traits through the test matings.更多还原
