【Abstract】 Studies on the characteristics of high velocity free gas jet have been reviewed and expressions for the characteristics of supersonic turbulent free gas jet have been improved. The relationships between momentum, mass and energy transfer factors, Ku, Km and Ke of compressible gas jet and momentum factor Kj, velocity distribution factor λ1, of noncompressible gas jet have been derived on the basis of the experimental studies on characteristics of axis-symmetric supersonic turbulent free gas jet in view of the transfer theory. The experimental studies proved that momentum transfer factor Kj was not a constant It can be expressed as a functional formula of the nozzle exit Maeh number Me. Kj=79.36 1+0.376Me2.81/1+14Me Several physical models of the interaction between gas jet and melt were also discussed.
