【Abstract】 In this article, an equivalent energy quality degradation δΩ and an equivalent absolute temperature Teq are derived as the thermodynamical criteria to select four different approaches of waste heat utilization, based on the principle of balance for energy quality. Besides the pure heating approach, the presence of optimum evaporation temperature of intermediate medium ts,opt for other three utilizable approaches is established (corresponding to δΩ minimized) through physical cases and the inversion temperature tinv, which gives judgement on the property of utilizahle approaches for equipments of pure power and back pressure turbine, is calculated out under certain conditions.
