【Abstract】 “Modown”is the trade name of a new herbicide,first maun factured by theMobile Oil Corporation of America in 1973.Chemical name:methy 1—5—(2,4—dichrorophenoxy)—2—nitrobenzoate.Structural formula:(?)This thesis affords in detail a laboratory method for synthesis of the abovecompound.The method includes Chlornation of benzoyl chloride,purification ofmetachlorobenzoyl chloride by fractional distillation,esterification to isopropylester,nitration,condensation with 2,4—dichlorophenol,and subsequent ester—exchange to methyl ester.The total yield is 59％,based on meta-chloro-benzoyl-chloride.The purity of“Modown”is 99.8%.The herbicide is specific forbroadleaves grasses.更多还原
