【Abstract】 It was shown experimentally that myocardial lesions could be produced inthe rat by feeding rations with grains exclusively cultivated in the Keshandisease areas.Cardiac enzymes such as the activities of succinic dehyd-rogenase and cytochrome C oxidase were determined simultaneously at the timeof scarifying the animal and it could be seen clearly from the result of suchdeterminations that there was a regular change of the myocardial enzymeactivities in the animal fed with grains from the endemic areas.Thus,deduction could be made by comparing the biochemical and pat-hological observations that there was a certain relationship between thechanges of enzymatic activities of the respiratory chain with the deve-lopment of myocardial lesions in the animal.Basing upon the experimentalobservations of such a kind,we think that evidences were provided enough insupporting the working hypothesis of the authors that changes in the acti-vities of respiratory chain system formed an important basis for the damageto myocardium in Keshan disease.更多还原
