【Abstract】 In order to search for better chemotherapeutic agents against tuberculosis, several new derivatives of 5-methoxy-3-arylazoindole were synthesized by coupling 5-methoxyindole with aryldiazoninm chloride. All these compounds were shown to have antituberculous activity in vitro, especially compounds Ⅱa~c which showed better activity.
