壁虎属三新种兼记铅山壁虎(蜥蜴目:壁虎科)
THREE NEW SPECIES OF GEKKO AND REMARKS ON GEKKO HOKOUENSIS(LACERTIFORMES, GEKKONIDAE)
【Abstract】 This paper reports three new species of Gekko collected in China and discusses thesystematic status of Gekko hokouensis. Key to Chinese species of Gekko is also given.Gekko auriverrucosus Zhou et Liu, sp. nov. (Plate I. 2, fig. 1)Holotype (NNC 80275), allotype (NNC 80243), Hejin County, Shanxi Pro-vince, altitude 459 m, August 19, 1980. Paratypes 33 41, Hejin, Yongji and Lin-yi Counties, Shanxi Province; August 19--22, 1980.Rostral not touching the nostril; cluster of large conical tubercles on upper edgeof ear-opening; enlarged tubercles on temple, occiput, neck, back and dorsal side of limbsand base of tail; usually three median chinshields largest: male with 8--11 preanalpores; remnant of web between digits. This new species differs from all the knownGekko species in China in having cluster of large conical tubercles on upper edge of earopening and is distinguished from them except Gekko gecko in the separation of nostriland rostral by supranasal.Gekko liboensis Zhou et Li,sp. nov.(Plate II. 1, fig. 2)Holotype (TMC 791669), Libo County, Guizhou Province, altitude 430 m, July5, 1979.A pair of large supranasals in contact mesially; dorsal granular scales intermixedwith about 10 irregular rows of flat tubercles;no enlarged tubercles on arms and legs;a single large tubercular scale at each side of base of tail; trace of web between 1st-2nd-3rd and little web between 3rd-4th-5th fingersi trace of web between 1st-2nd-3rd-4thtoes. This new gecko is related to Gekko hokouensis, but differs from the latter inhaving: 1) supranasals in contact mesially; 2) tubercles intermixed with the dorsalgranular scales flat; 3) length of head and body exceeding 80 mm.Gekko hokouensis PopePope (1928) placed this form as a subspecies of G. japonicus. After a careful ex-amination of a considerable material consisthig of 1018 specimens of hokouensis andjaponicus from 66 places in China, the authors have come to the conclusion that the sub-specific position of hokouensis is untenable. The number of large tubercular scale ateach side of the base of tail and the distribution of the enlarged tubercles on the back and the limbs easily separate hokouensis from japonicus (Plate II. 2--11, Tab. 3). We, there-fore, here propose G. hokouensis to specific rank. The overlapping in geographic rangesof G. hokouensis and G. japonicus is shown in fig. 3.Gekko scabridus Liu et Zhou, sp. nov. (Plate I. 1, fig. 4)Holotype (NNC 80122), allotype (NNC 80143), Yongren County, Yunnan Pro-vince, altitude 1,531 m, August 4, 1980. Paratypes 16 33, Yongren County, YunnanProvince and Miyi County, Sichuan Province; August 4--5, 1980.Enlarged tubercles on dorsal surface of head, neck, body, base of tail and limbs, those on hind limbs and along side of back large and rough; chinshields longer than bro-ad, the median pair largest; 2 or 3 large tubercular seales at each side of base of tail;male with 10--15 preanal pores; remnant of web between digits, those between 4th--5th fingers and 3rd--4th toes more distinct. This new species resembles Gekko japoni-cus, but differs from the latter in having: 1) large and rough tubercles on hind limbs:and along side of back; 2) male with 10--15 preanal pores.
