【Abstract】 Recently it has been found that paragonimiasis was prevalent in South Anhui. Two endemic areas, consisting of Fanchang County where fluke ova could be readily found in sputum and Jingde County where ova had never been found, were selected for the present study. The morphological and biological aspects of the etiological agents from these two areas were compared.Results indicated that though the fluke in both endemic areas belonged to Paragonimus westermani,they differed distinctly in some biological aspects. The cysts recovered from crabs as well as worms and eggs obtained from laboratory infected dogs and cats in the former area were all found to be larger than the corresponding stages recovered in the latter area.
