【Abstract】 Medium chain triglyceride (MCT) is condensed by medium chain fatty acids and glycerin. In the late decade there were some research papers reporting biochemical, nutritional and clinical studies on MCT, but a comparative study on metabolism process especially on the deposition and mobilization of various synthetic MCFAs in vivo is yet lacking. It is known that fatty acid deposition and mobilization are the main problems in the process of fat metabolism, so we now make a comparative study on the deposition and mobilization of various synthetic MCFAs in vivo.98 rats were used as experimental animals that were divided into two large groups for studying the deposition and mobilization as well as their effects on tissue lipids by adding and stopping MCT in the basic diet respectively. On the one hand we took biopsy from testicular fat bodies at intervals of 2-3 weeks and determined their fat acids by GLC analyses to observe the deposition and mobilization of these synthetic MCFAs; on the other hand we studied simultaneously the effects of these synthetic MCFAs, metabolism on lipids content in plasma, liver and aortic wall by chemical analyses.The results of our study show that various synthetic MCFAs may be physiologically deposited and mobilized in vivo of rats, and that the longer the chain, the more they will be deposited and mobilized without causing abnormal lipids accumulation in these tissues. This may lead to maintenance of normal growth and development of rats.
