【Abstract】 Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in adults usually occurs in case of organ transplantation, chronic ailments and lowered resistance against infection. Seven cases of CMV infection were reported among them, 4 occurred after renal transplantation and the remaining 3 with primary liver cancer, diabetes mellitus and probably uncomplicated infection with CMV respectively.In this series six had protracted fever, two pneumonia and one leucopenia. abnormal liver function tests and electrocardiogram.The differentiation of the clinical picture between CMV infection after organ transplantation and graft rejection per se was sometimes difficult, apart from protracted fever and graft swelling. Three cases of post-transplantation CMV infection revealed mild increase of blood creatinine, decrease of urine output and proteinuria. Pathological study of renal biopsy in 2 cases showed reactions of mild and moderate rejection. When the symptoms are uncontrollable at the presence of only mild or moderate rejection, CMV infection should be highly suspected.CMV infection in adults is usually associated with mononucleosis which is rarely seen in the state of immunosuppression or in young people under the age of thirty. None of the seven cases showed a mononucleosis.The diagnostic value of searching for CMV inclusions in fresh urine specimens and the significance of primary and secondary CMV infection in organ transplantation were discussed.更多还原
