This paper deals mainly with the design requirements of journal bearing bit. The axial bearing structure of the bit was analysed geometrically. With the design requirements under consideration, research was made to determine the suitable axial dimension tolerances and the proper dimension base level in order to achieve precision of product, improvement of quality and reduction of manufacturing cost,
