浙江南几列岛贝类区系的研究
STUDIES ON MOLLUSCAN FAUNA OF NANJI ISLANDS,BAST CHINA SEA
【Abstract】 The coastal regions of Zhejiang Province (Bast China Sea) have scarcely been investigated for their molluscan fauna. In the years 1976-1978,a systematic and zoogeographical investigation of molluscan fauna of the Nanji Islands was carried out jointly by the Natural History Museum,Shanghai and the Pingyang Culture Farm of Laminaria,Zhejiang Province.Waters off its northern coast are influenced by the South Huang Hai sea (Yellow Sea) cold water, mass, while nearshore areas are influenced by the relatively cold South Huang Hai (Yellow Sea) coastal current.Watersoff its southern coast are under the influence of the Taiwan warm current. The Nanji Islands of Zhejiang Province located at lat.27°27’N and long.121°05’E,are composed of seventeen isles. The maximum surface sea temperature is 28℃,the minimum is 10℃,the average being +20℃.Although located at the subtropical zone, they are for the most part under the influence of the Taiwan warm current,a condition reflected in the species composition in which there are more tropical elements than subtropical elements. All the collected specimens were examined and a total of 122 species were, identified.A detailed list of their distribution in our seas is given in table 1.According to the limits of distribution, the Nanji molluscan fauna may be divided into the following four groups:1.Species distributed from the Bo Hai in the north to the South China Sea: There are 34 species, most of which inhabit various intertidal environments. They include 16 species of Gastropoda and 18 species of bivalves.Of species inhabiting the rocky shores,Cellana toreuma,Monodonta labio,Chlorostoma rusticum,Littorina brevi-cula,Ostrea plicatula etc.,Polyniees didyma,Area sulcrenata,Buditapes philippinar-um,Mactra veneriformis etc.,are species living in sandymud, while Meretrix meretrix,Coelomactra antiquata,Solen grandis, and others are species inhabiting sandy beaches.2.Species distributed in the East China Sea and South China Sea: There are 58 species,of which there are 33 species of Gastropoda,25 species of bivalves. The southward distribution of this group may reach as far as the Fujian and Guangdong continental coast.Only a few speaies reach as far as Hainan Island.Their northward distribution is restricted by runoffs from the Chang Jiang river (Yangtse river). This group includes subtropical species, such as Scutus sinensis,Monodonta neritoides,Chlorostoma argyrostoma,Turbo cornutus,Nerita albicilla,Sinum papilla,Bursa rana,Murex trapa,Babylonia areolata,Oliva mustelina,Tegillarca nodifera,Ostrea, echinata,Cardita variegata,Paphia undulata,Gafrarium divaricatum, and Callista chinensis. The aba-lone species of economic importance Haliotis diversicolor also belongs to this group and may be a promising object of mariculture of the Nanji Islands in the near future.3.Species distributed from Xiamen southward to the South China Sea: There are 26 species,of which three are Gastropoda and 23 are bivalves.A few species such as Cardita learn,Apolymetis lacunosa,Cardium sinense,G.asiaticum and Trachycar-dium impolitum are found to occur only in Xiamen and Dongshan, while some species such as Ficus fieus,Area navicularia,Modiolus philippinarum,Lithophaga teres,Ostrea pauluciae,O.crenulifera,Circe stutzeri,Mactra inequalis and Donax cuneata are distributed from the Guangdong continental coast to Hainan Island or still farther south. To date we have not found any of these species occurring in the Fujian continental coast. They seem to be restricted to Nanji waters.Species of a stronger tropical nature such as Cellana testudinaris,Area antiquata and Pteria formosa are also found to occur.4.Species only found in the Bo Hai and the Huang Hai sea (Yellow Sea) : This group includes only 4 warm-temperate species, namely,Pleurobranchaea novaezealan diae,Anomia chinensis,Calithaea staminea and Chlamys farreri. On the basis of the occurrence of different species reflecting a wide degree of environmental variability,we are inclined to consider the Nanji Islands as a faunal mixing zone.
