【Abstract】 In our previous studies,it was found that in the absence of the notochord,the muscle fibrils of the amphioxus embryo were finer then normal and irregularly arranged.The neural tube,which was induced from the ectoderm by the note- chord,was also absent.Isolation experi- ment showed that the an1 of the 32-cell stage formed ectoderm only and the veg2 developed onto the gut and mesoderm. But when an1 and veg2 were combined, either an embryo with well formed epider- mis,gut,muscular tissue,notochord and neural tube or a complete,normal embryo was formed.This indicated not only the
