【Abstract】 A follow-up examination of 326 cases of schi- stosomiasis treated With various short courses of potassium antimony tartrate is presented.All of the patients were in apparently healthy condition with light infections,and stool hatchings were positive for schistosoma ova before treatment. They were closely observed for more than half a year after treatment,during which time stool hatchings were performed repeatedly,at least 3 times for each patient.The results obtained are tabulated as follows: The therapeutic effect of those treated with a total dosage of 16 mg/kg given in 7 days was fairly satisfactory and was only slightly inferior to those treated with a total dosage of 25 mg/kg given in 20 days,the usually adopted one. There was no difference in relapse rate between those with slight hepato-splenomegaly and those without.Although the reactions encountered in the first group(treated with a total dosage of 16 mg/kg given in 7 days)were more marked and at times drastic,they seemed to be lessened by divi- ding the daily dose into two injections,given in the forenoon and afternoon respectively.Further trial and observation with larger series of cases is worthwhile.更多还原
