【Abstract】 The results of our study show that there are a total of 54 minerals in the sediment samples analyzed. The area investigated may be divided into 4 mineral regions on the basis of the heavy and light minerals it contains: 1. the western mineral region of muscovite and dolomite; 2. the Hupi reef mineral region of olivine; 3. the mouth of the Yangtze River and the middle mineral region of staurolite, kyanite, and andalustite; and 4. the Okinawa Trough mineral region of volcanic glass and pyroxene. The sediments west of the western slope of the Okinawa Trough are mainly derived from the Yangtze River and those east of the slope are contributed by oceanic volcanoes and the eastern islands.更多还原
