【Abstract】 The present paper is an attempt by using the silkworm as the materialto discuss the controversies in the morphology of the head of Lepidopterouslarvae. The structures discussed are (1) the ecdysial cleavage line, (2) theclypeus and the frons, (3) the postocciput and hypostomal lobes, and (4) themaxillolabial-hypopharyngeal complex. New in interpretations have been offeredfor the sclerites and sulc of the face of the head. As the mexillolabial com-plex is a rather specialized structure, comparative studies are needed beforewe can satisfactorily homologize with those parts of the generalized insects.更多还原
