小剂量γ射线一次全身照射对猕猴(Macaca mulatta)外周血象的影响
EFFECTS OF A SINGLE SESSION OF SMALL DOSES OF RADIATION FROM Co60 ON THE PERIPHERAL BLOOD OF RHESUS MONKEY (MACACA MULATTA)
【摘要】 <正> 自从放射生物学开创时期以来,电离辐射对高等哺乳动物血象的影响已有很多的报导,但大部分试验是在啮齿类动物身上进行的。关于电离辐射对灵长类中狝猴血象影响的报导较少,自本世纪50年代迄今虽已有若干论文发表,但关于小剂量50r以下的γ射线对狝猴血象的影响尚未有过报导。狝猴在动物分类学上以及对电离辐射的敏感性方面与人类都较为接近,同时由于原子能的和平利用日益广泛,有越来越多的人口将受到小剂量的辐射,因此研究小剂量电离辐射对狝猴血象的影响,所得结果对于小剂量辐射损伤的诊断将具有一定的意义,因此进行了本研究工作。
【Abstract】 Seventeen sex matured rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta)—16 male and 1 female,all aged 5 to 14 years—were used for the study on the effect of single and total body irradiations of γ-ray from Co60 with doses of 10r,20r,and 50r on the blood picture. The following results were obtained: (1)The pattern of response of blood elements of the monkey following radiation of small doses of γ-ray was essentially similar to that irradiated with sublethal ones, although quantitative differences were present. (2)Initial leucocytosis was found in all groups except in the 10r one.Leucopenia followed in all groups.The extent of depression and the time when it occurred bear certain relationship with the magnitude of the dosage. (3)Initial elevation of neutrophiles followed by depression was also observed in all groups except in the 10r one.Both the degree of depression and the time of its recovery also seemed to bear certain relationship with the magnitude of the dosage.The initial elevation did not associate with the phenomenon of the “shift to the left” as in the case after exposure to sublethal doses.“Shift to the right” up to 4 to 5 times of its pre-irradiation level was noted in all groups except in the 10r one. (4)Eosinophilia 2 to 3 times of the pre-irradiation level was found about two weeks after irradiation in all groups except in the 10r one and lasted for several weeks. The marked and persistent eosinophilia that was even more significant than that after exposure to sublethal doses might be regarded as a characteristic reaction of blood to small amount of radiation. (5)Depression of lymphocytes was noted in all groups several hours after irradia- tion,the extent of which seemed to bear positive relationship with the magnitude of the dosage.The lymphocytes which disappeared after irradiation belonged mostly to the small type.This indicates that the small lymphocytes were the most sensitive cells to radiation injury.The lymphocytes with bilobed nuclei and also their transitional forms increased greatly several days to one month after irradiation,especially in the 10r group where the rise reached 4 to 5 times of its pre-irradiation level.This response which was even more conspicuous than that after sublethal exposure might be one of the characteris- tic reaction of lymphocytes to small exposure. (6)Slight elevation of monocytes was noted after irradiation and their granular content in cytoplasm increased also to some extent. (7)No significant changes in the number of erythrocytes,basophiles and degenera- tive leucocytes and in the concentrations of haemoglobin were observed after irradiation. In short,it may be stated that certain characteristic changes in the blood picture of rhesus monkey in response to small exposures can be observed.This consists of no “shift to the left” phenomenon during the initial leucocytosis which was followed by marked “shift to the right”,and marked increase in the number of eosinophiles and lymphocytes with bilobed nuclei and their transitional forms.It is suggested that these reactions may be considered as useful diagnostic signs for exposures to small amount of radiation.
